Transportation Information & Service Map
Park Shore Country Day Camp employs a full-time Transportation Director, Tricia Mirando, who is in charge of hiring and training all of the Park Shore bus drivers as well as the scheduling of all of the bus runs. Park Shore provides door-to-door bus service for all of our campers. Each bus has a Bus Counselor who is responsible for making sure each bus ride is a safe and happy experience for all of our campers. The Bus Counselor will also escort each camper onto the bus and buckle them in if they need assistance. Park Shore also provides car seats for all children ages 4 and under. In the afternoon when the bus arrives to your home, if there is not a parent or family member waiting outside, the bus counselor will walk your child/children to the door. If the driver or bus counselor does not recognize the person at your home or they are under the age of 18, they will contact Park Shore to get authorization to release your child/children. Safety is our number one concern.
Approximately two to five days prior to the opening of Camp, the bus driver will stop at your home and leave an identification tag, a camp bag for each child, and other pertinent information. After the first two to three days of Camp, the times of pick-up and take-home will become regular. Early dismissals will be held during the first week and on rainy days. Buses will leave approximately 15 minutes early on these days. Please call if you have any additional questions.
Our transportation for camp covers a wide territory in Nassau and Suffolk county. We have transported campers as far west as Merrick and Roslyn Heights and as far east as St. James and Bohemia. Because we cover such a large area, we utilize Educational and Suffolk Bus Companies to provide us with drivers and buses to fulfill our transportation needs. These two bus companies have assisted Park Shore for over 20 years.
All of our drivers are required to have a commercial driver’s license (CDL) with either a class B or class C. It is also mandatory that all bus drivers are FBI finger printed. Park Shore is 19A certified and complies to the regulations set by New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV). These requirements are regulated by the Transportation Director and a Certified 19A Examiner. Our drivers need to maintain a clean driving record which is reviewed annually. They are also required to have a physical completed by a certified medical examiner every year.
We have two mechanics on staff to service and maintain our vehicles. All Park Shore buses, as well as Educational and Suffolk transportation buses, are inspected biannually by the Department of Transportation.
Please contact us at any time if you have any questions or concerns.
